Your first meal of the day, you gotta fill up with the easiest, quickest food to digest [fruit and veg]! Start with a smoothie, juicing or fruit salad! Breakfast is a time to really play around with your fruit and veggies, make it fun!! For a breakfast smoothie, I usually use a banana, maybe an orange, some frozen berries and water or almond milk (usually water). If you want to add a bit more flavor, sprinkle some cinnamon in there! I know, it sounds weird.. its DELICIOUS!! You can also add a Tsp of spirulina powder, spinach etc. Try to choose organic fruits and veg and non GMO! You can look at the code on your veggies as a general guide. If the sticker number starts with 4, its normal. 9 is organic and 8 is Genetically Modified Organism (GMO). AVOID them at all costs!!
I used to always mix my protein shakes with fruit, but that doesn't follow the food triangle rules because fruit should be eaten only on an empty stomach and should only be mixed with raw veggies! I really like a shake that tastes AMAZING. The Arbonne shakes are delicious, but sometimes you just want to spice it up!!
With the Chocolate flavor, I blend with water (or almond milk), ice AND a few drops of peppermint oil!! MMMM Chocolate mint! With Vanilla, I blend with water (or almond milk), ice AND CINNAMON! It adds that bite and its delicious!! I sometimes add a small tsp of chia seeds to either. ![]() JUICING GREEN! - 2 large Kale Leaves - 1 handful of chopped romaine or 3 large leaves - 3 celery sticks - 1 green apple - A handful of Parsley - A sprig of mint - 2 carrots - 1/4 large cucumber DELICIOUS! You can play around with this! Add half a lemon, a chunk of ginger etc! Juicing is beneficial because it extracts the nutrients and vitamins from the vegetable or fruit. Yes, you are taking out the fiber in the vegetable but that makes it SOOO easy for your body to absorb the nutrients! You want to have fiber filled meals the rest of the day, so its good to juice for 1 meal in the morning or at lunch! Remember, you want to eat fruits or veggies in the morning and you can go to complex foods throughout the later meals! |
