Following my last posts, I hope you’ve been inspired to break up with the things in your life that are no longer benefiting you. If so, it is time for the next step. The hard part is over and the beautiful part can begin. You have made room in your energetic capacity for something good to come to you. It’s time for you to let go of everything, and move on.
Last week at U of O, the Break Up and Move Ottawa event took place. The morning consisted of a relaxing yoga class and discussion with relationship and health experts about breaking up with bad habits and replacing them with options that work. From breaking up with a bad friend, that annoying habit you’ve been dying to ditch or even sexual health-based issues such as a birth control method that isn’t ideal, no topic was too personal. In case you missed it, be sure to check out the event photos below.

As you open up and start to experience better things, you will continue to expect things to improve. According to the law of attraction, what you think and FEEL will come into your life. So back when you were stuck on the habit, relationship or situation that wasn’t making you happy, you were actually attracting more things that wouldn’t make you happy. Now that you’ve moved on and let go, the universe will continue to bring you things that make you happier as long as you continue to stay happy! So what is it that you want in life? What will make you happy? Start to feel that way and it will show up for you!
Remember that true happiness comes from within. It is a decision you make each day. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be irritable, mad, annoyed etc. Everything in life is a test. How can you find the silver lining? How can you find happiness in every situation? The more you succeed at that, that easier it will be for happiness to become your usual state.
If you’re having trouble letting go of your “break up”, here are some tips to keep you on the right track.
1. Don’t over think it – So many times we weigh the options, sides and conversations so much that we get stuck back where we started. That is no good! You made the decision to break up because you became honest with yourself and concluded that your situation was no longer optimal for you. Stick with that and stop thinking about it! Let it go and start getting excited for better things.
2. Know you deserve amazing – In every part of life! Career, financial, relationship, family, health, and personal! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Work with yourself every day by saying nice things. Watch your self-talk and replace it with positive reinforcement. You are surrounded by too many critics in your life already, you need to be your own supporter.
3. Count your blessings - When you are overthinking, in a bad mood or just trying to figure it all out, start with gratitude. It is the best way to change your thinking and your vibes. Instead of overthinking, stop yourself and start to feel grateful for the things you have in life. Do you have legs that walk? A heart that pumps clean, healthy blood? A family who loves you? A job that pays you? Clothing to cover you? A roof over your head? Clean and hot water available? Friends to hang out with? Start writing them down in a notebook you can dedicate to your gratitude. Get really specific and turn to your book whenever you need some uplifting!
Lastly, remember that you can do this! Depending on your situation, your break up may be more difficult or much easier. If you are having a hard time, just take a deep breathe, and take it day by day. Stay positive, stay excited, stay grateful.
