Oh my gosh is this a controversy or WHAT!? Here is my opinion and what I like to do. As I go through my transformation, you can follow my progress!
My first secret to working out is you have to find a routine and system that you LOVE. When I do cardio, I get bored and uncomfortable and I just want to stop. When I do weights, I get pumped and I watch myself improve quickly. I feel adrenaline and strength and powerful. Therefore, I usually I focus on free weights, weight machines and floor work. I like to end off my work out with about 15-20 minutes of cardio. Always do your cardio at the END of your work out. If your goal is to gain muscles or strength or lose fat, this is the best system BECAUSE it gives you the best energy for optimal performance at both.

I think that cardio is also important but I would rather get it by walking my dog, swimming, going for a bike ride or walking places instead of driving! When I went to my old gym, I would to walk there (uphill and then downhill, 30 minutes), work out for an hour and then walk home. That is an hour walk and boy did it feel good!!!
When you focus on weights, remember that you have to start somewhere!! The first time I went to the gym with a personal trainer I could barely lift 5-8 pound free weights to do chest press!! My wrists were so weak that the weights would just wobble around as I put them up. If this is you right now, don't worry!! Within a few months, I built up my muscles to be lifting 25 pounds in each hand to do chest press. KEEP GOING! Also remember that results need consistent work. If you do a little everyday, it will add up. If you do a lot one day and nothing the rest of the time, you wont get the results you are looking for!
Find what you like most. I will be focusing now on basic at home workouts that EVERYONE can do. They will create results and changes in your body and I will be starting from scratch with you!! That way, you can see my progress AND send me yours!! :D
