When I first started my business with Arbonne, I had no idea what was so important about them being a certified vegan line. At the time I was a normal, meat-eating teenager. I do love animals and have always been against testing on animals. I learned a lot about PETA at a very young age but vegan was not a concern to me. I thought that because they were vegan products, only vegans would care about that so I brushed it off.
A few weeks into my business, I had some launch events where I invited my friends and family over to learn what Arbonne is actually about so that they understood what I was doing. I had my Leaders down from a few hours away to help me officially launch my business. They did most of the presentation at the beginning so that I could learn what to say! When they explained what "vegan" in products really meant, I was in shock. I was so grossed out. It made me feel SOOOO grateful that I was now representing and sharing a line of everyday products to the people I love that WERE certified Vegan!!

As most of you know, I am now actually vegan. What I eat AND every product I use is vegan! This all came about when I started researching all over the place about "Animal Rendering Plants". You can go and do your own research.. but I suggest having a garbage bag next to you. Here is a quote that really makes you realize that being oblivious and not wanting to learn to truth is just hypocritical.
"You don't want to see slaughter images because you cant stomach it but you will put what's in those images into your stomach?"
How much sense does it make? Another quote:
“If slaughterhouses had glass walls, the whole world would be vegetarian.” ― Linda McCartney
I'm sure you have heard the saying "You are what you eat." So basically you're stomach is a tomb for a dead animal? Basically you are a rotting, diseased, drugged carcass?
Ok, back to the vegan products. Animal rendering plants are located all over the place. They collect all animal products that need to be disposed of. For example: restaurants, grocery stores, road kill, factory farms, slaughterhouses and even animal shelters. They collect everything from meat, bones, grease, feathers, blood .. the entire carcass. There are several different rendering processes and you can do your own research. Basically its all heated at high temperatures. One by-product of this process is Tallow. Its a foamy substance that surfaces at the top of the vat and it is sold to cosmetic companies as a cheap filler. It is also mixed into some feed that they give back to the animals you will later eat.
Most people don't know, but cosmetics are not actually strictly regulated in North America. Not only are there over 80,000 different chemicals that haven't been tested for safety, but also, companies don't HAVE TO list all of their ingredients. If your products are not Certified Vegan, you don't know what they contain. Many companies also mix ingredients together and name it something else.
Some people think the animal rendering is gross, some don't. Okay cool. The problem is, these animal products have been rotting. They are filled with chemicals, hormones and antibiotics. You can learn more about that in my Vegan Post. So what is it that you are putting on your skin? THE LARGEST ORGAN OF YOUR BODY. Your skin is meant to breathe and detoxify your body. But it absorbs what you put on it into your bloodstream within seconds. Therefore, this is not just about animals, it's about your health as well.
So there you have it, now, having vegan products is one of the most important things for me now and I am so glad I can trust Arbonne products to be BOTANICALLY-BASED, VEGAN, PURE, SAFE and BENEFICIAL.
